Just This One More!
My ranger is now in Lion's Arch, and I've run around picking up the various quests. Last night, I thought I'd take her out and see what I could do, collecting the various henchmen to fill out the group.
First up: Mergoyles in various incarnations. Result? Generalized mergoyle slaughter. Despite the fact that we must have killed thirty or so on the way, all I had to show for it was six mergoyle skulls. Woohoo! Next up: Bog scales. Yecch. But there too, it's generalized bog scale slaughter, most of which drop nothing at all. Oh well. I did get XP. At some point, I realized that starting from Lion's Arch was the absolute longest way to get to where I needed to go, so I mapped over to Gates of Kryta, rehenched, and made my way over to the green twirling blob on the map to collect Malaquire's shards. My little group is swarmed by clay elementals, which we reduce to the aforesaid shards in surprisingly short order. We'd already taken out most of the mergoyles along the way (net result: three more mergoyle skulls), so seeing three or four red dots a little way up a hill, I check them out. They all say "mergoyle". Easy pickins, think I, so we all go over and attack them. Wave after wave after wave of mergoyles, which is now not going so well and then...Gypsy freakin Ettins! In short order, we're all down. Kind of like what happened at Iron Horse Mine the night before with my elementalist. When will I learn that "just one more (maybe the NEXT one will drop black dye)" means total annihilation? C |
